In Kenya, children ages 4-6 years old are required to complete two years of pre-school, before admission into primary school is granted. In 2005, Grace Life Ministries began Grace Life (Montessori) Academy, offering this basic education to orphans and other children. Besides providing pre-school education, the ministry is charged with enrolling its orphans in other schools at higher educational levels. Often children that we are working with are unable to raise the minimal fee charged, and our ministry lacks sufficient resources to support the orphans and other children from needy families. Consequently, very many end up missing their basic educational foundation, and end up as domestic house helps, drug traffickers, brothel workers and street children. The many social ills in society can be traced to improper child backgrounds. Grace Life Ministry has a vision of transforming the society into a wholesome community hence the initiative in beginning this school.
